While I was in New York .....

at the end of March, Michael Althouse, at:

http://25yearplan.blogspot.com/2007/03/thinking-blogger-award.html

did me the honor of naming "Imagine What I'm Leaving Out" a blog that makes him think. Imagine how terrific I feel! I'm not certain I merit it, but there is a mutual-admiration-society between us. I had said the same thing about Mike's writing, even before these awards began.

Receiving this award charges me with a task. I have to choose five blogs that make me think; the hardest thing I've been asked to do recently, because it is so difficult to limit it to five. I am aware that some I have chosen have already been awarded by someone else. I do not expect them to choose five more blogs (unless they want to). Here is my list (in no particular order):

1. Joared, at Along the Way:

http://www.joared-along.blogspot.com/

2. Maya's Granny, at:

http://mayagranny.blogspot.com/

3. Carmi, at:

http://writteninc.blogspot.com/

4. Minerva, at:

http://womanlyparts.blogspot.com

5. Mamacita, at:

http://weeklyscheiss.blogspot.com/

6. Shephard, at:

http://www.shubertalleyshephard.blogspot.com

7. Carol, at:

http://thecerebraloutpost.blogspot.com/

I am supposed to write a paragraph about each of the blogs I chose, but I will do it differently. First, let me say that there are other blogs that make me think too, but I must limit my list! Had anyone other than Mike given this award to me, he would definitely be on my list.

All of these writers not only make me think, but generally they do it with intelligence, a grasp of grammar and spelling, obvious wit and humor (whether broad or sly) and the ability to phrase things in ways that I could never imagine. They have all demonstrated a compassionate spirit as well.

~~~~~~
The participation rules are simple:
1. If, and only if, you get tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think
2. Link to this post so that people can easily find the exact origin of the meme
3. Optional: Proudly display the 'Thinking Blogger Award' with a link to the post that you wrote (here is an alternative silver version if gold doesn't fit your blog).
Addenda: I am twice honored; tonight Sonia at Leaves of Grass also nominated me for the same award. Go and visit Sonia here:
Thank again, Sonia and Mike. I am grateful.
A well deserved honor Judy.
Congrats Judy - well deserved. I'm a Mike fan too and will check out the blogs I don't know. The flower pics are beautiful and inspired me to - later on - take some pics of Margaret's garden - she's one of the 'girls' and her garden is always a picture. Bogged down with housework at present before the next guests. Heigh ho!
I saw that you were nominated before someone nominated me ... I was disappointed that I didn't get the chance to nominate you. Then I thought I'd better get cracking on my list or everyone would nominate those on my blogroll and I would be up a creek. Congratulations, you really do deserve it!
Mamacita was also on my long list too. When I did seven I felt a bit guilty, like I was breaking a rule... but just couldn't help it.
You make me think and you're nice, too!
Am I the only one who finds the button aesthetically unpleasing? I wish there were a miniature Rodin's THE THINKER in the corner instead of that alien thingy.
Congratulations!!! Will visit your nominations! Sonia is so dear to me, we have never met, and we live in the same country, about 200 miles apart, but we feel like we do. And I have plans to meet her. Take care.
Congrats on getting this award, Judy! Much deserved.
Thank you for tagging me on this as well ... I appreciate it!
I'll get to this asap, promise.
Uh oh, now I have to remember how to add html into my blog template. Egad. Wish me luck on that, and thanks again!
ju,
Congrats on making people think.
I think we think enough, or perhaps too much, methinks. At first I thought I was upset over not being thought of as a thinker who makes other thinkers think. But then I thought, "I think I serve a purpose for those who think their heads are too heavy with thought, and wish not to think about thinking for a few moments. So think of me as thinking thoughtlessly, and when you read me, don't think. I think you'll appreciate my thinking more.
And, is "thunk" a word? "Drink, drank, drunk." "Think, thank, thunk?" No. "Think, THOUGHT, thunk?" "Drink, drought, drunk?" No.
I'll think and drink on it. ...and maybe consult a dictionary!
Conrgats again, Judy. And for not nominating me, many thinks.
...er, thanks.
Kenju, now that I've finally been able to complete a project on which I was working, I'm finally getting back to checking out blogs and all I've missed. Sorry it's taken me so long to respond specifically to this on your blog.
Thank you for honoring me with this award -- very generous and kind of you. So many blogs that make me think, too, including yours.
