What Spring Brings......

Every year I put a silk arrangement on the porch wall; either a basket or a wreath. Every year, a bird builds a nest on the arrangement. Most years, the end result is broken eggs or an abandoned nest. But not this year. There are at least four itty-bitty fuzzy babies in that nest. I am such a proud grandmama!! We hope it isn't too cold for the babies to survive; since we have had hard freezes for the last three nights.
Note: The nest was built by the birds; I didn't put it in the arrangement. I will photograph them as often as possible, but I have to take the arrangement off the wall. It is a cornucopia-type basket and I must have someone hold it for me, and that might not always be possible. I don't know what kind of birds they are because I have not seen the mother yet. I will try to keep you posted about them as they grow.

How sweet is that....I bet you can hardly wait to see these babies grow! Our swallows are very busy, flying in and out of the box and doing who knows what! I am going to plant bulbs for next year but deer unfriendly.

We get Robins who build a nest and produce offspring every year around this time. They build it in the lamps next to the front door.

We spend weeks using the back door or garage to get in to avoid attacks and have to post a sign to keep solicitors away.

How adorable! Are they robins or mockingbirds? Was there a base nest already in the arrangement or did they build it all themselves? I just LOVE the tiny babies.... so much fun to watch them grow.

Good luck sweet babies...!!!!!

Almost forgot, Michele sent me this time.

What a beautiful photo of newly-hatched babies. I worry about the weather too! Hopefully, the momma bird will keep them warm and safe. I am looking forward to more photos.

Oh my goodness ! that is so awesome. I couldn't put out a nest cause the pigeons would move it!

Keep on taking pictures of them - we're all interested in seeing them grow up now!

Michele sent me back to admire your nest :-)

I'm not sure if you know this but it might be best if the nest was not diturbed as a mother bird might reject her young if the nest is moved. I had this drummed into be as a child by my gandmother who was a farmers wife.

You are very lucky to have been chosen by the mamma bird :-)

Wow. What a great idea and I look forward to the growing of the baby birds. I found a broken eggshell in my patio this week. Sigh!

life affirming!

What a beautiful story, and a beautiful picture.......

every spring, the robins build nest underneath our back deck which is 15 feet up from the ground. I love hearing the little ones chirping in the morning.....

look forward to seeing more pics and learning of their growth.

Awesome!

We used to have birds build nests in our eves. After a couple of broken eggs hitting the pavement (and worse, one year having baby birds fall out of the nests onto the pavement) we sealed up the openings.

I hope your babies grow big and strong.

Thanks for stopping by my blog!
