My boss, Mel Day of Dogwood Tree Floral Design had two weddings this weekend; one Sat. and one today. Top: the bride's bouquet he made; she had chosen a hummingbird theme, and supplied some like the one above to be used however Mel saw fit. Some were going on the cake, and some were going to be hanging from tree branches. I am sorry that I won't get to see that one today! The bouquet featured white peonies, green and blue hydrangeas, green dendrobium orchids, orange mokara orchids, and blue delphinium. They look even better if you click to enlarge!
I made the boutonniere above for the groom; blue delphinium florets, dendrobium orchids and green hypericum "berries", with ruscus.
Saturday's wedding table centerpieces were half tulips and half hydrangeas.
Below is one of three buffet centerpieces. Another of Mel's "harem" made them. That's what Mel's brother calls all the women who work for him.
Next is a close-up of a wreath I made for the front door of the wedding location; an old home in a town south of here named Fuquay-Varina (ponder that for a while.....LOL)

This flowers are gorgeous and the arrangements are stunning. Great photos!
Beautiful!!!!!!
Hey, any idea what is going on with michele's site? It's *gone*!!!
Very pretty
Wow, those are gorgeous. I especially like the contrast of the man's hand (is that Mel himself?) holding the bride's bouquet. (don't let Carmi see it! He'll go nuts!)
here from Michele's...
So wonderful! :)
So talented....
A few people have brought up how long we have known eachother...do you have any pics of you and I from the beach or when I was little? It might be fun to post....on your site and mine!
What do you think?
The flowers and arrangements are absolutely breathtaking...it takes such skill to make beautiful things even more spectacular.
I agree with Panthergirl. I can't get into Michele's site either. I am getting a domain ad, with her site id at the top.
Oh I sooo love seeing ALL the Wonderful things you and your boss Mel & his Harem (lol) create for these various occassions....It must be so very satisfying Judy to know you help create the lovely memorable look of the floral arrangements for one of the happiest days of peoples lives!
Have you had trouble getting to Michele's today...Early this A.M. when I clicked on her name to go there I got some strange 'Domain Name' place...I wondered if anyone else was having that problem?
Such beautiful
No, they are lucky to have you working with them...actually of all of the photos the one of the groom's boutonniere has the best color contrast and is beautiful because of its simplicity and different flowers. i am posting my first violet today. To answer OOLOTH...I got the same Michele weirdness.
What a great bouquet! I love the brilliant colors in that grooms choice... this must have been a lovely wedding.
Love the blue with the lime green, what a great contrast! You have such a fun job, i'm jealous!
Amazing arrangements! WOW!
I'll print this off to use as "professional credentials" to show the judge when I try your trick for getting off a jury by saying i gotta work a wedding...
Are you SURE these wouldn't work at a funeral? Beautiful stuff, Judy.
These flowers are just beautiful Judy...gorgeous colors.
What wonderful floral designs. Things have changed so much from when I got married back in 1958, although I loved gardenias and had a gardenia bouquet--would be out of fashion today. Thanks for sharing.
Ooooh- those are so nice. I love the blue of the delphinium and the green orchids- and peonies! Your wreath is lovely, too! Me? I would be hanging out by the door waiting to see if it gets left behind or needs adopting.
Someone should speak to the bride about having her forearms waxed. ;-)
If it's silent Monday, does that include comments? Because I'M not going to be the first one to break the silence...
Absolutely gorgeous! I may pass this site on to some people I know who just got engaged
Oh, those are so lovely!
Love the blue and green flowers together (the 2nd photo)...
