It's a Mystery!

The cable remote quit working last week. I blamed Mr. kenju (once again). He sits in his recliner in semi-darkness and pushes the buttons without checking to see if they are the right ones.

I have had to reprogram it many times; everytime the electricity goes off it has to be redone. So I was confident that I could get it working again. Not. This. Time. I called the repair service; they told me to replace the batteries and try again. It still didn't work, so I took the old remote to the cable office and they gave me a new one.

Programming that one was not easy either. It worked for about 30 seconds and then it crapped out too. If I got it to where it would turn the TV off, it wouldn't change the channels or raise the volume. If I got it to where it would raise the volume, it would not mute or allow me to flashback to the previous channel. I was stymied, so I called for service. The guy is supposed to come between 8:00 am and noon today.

******************************

It is now 5:24, and we still don't have a working remote. It isn't the cable repairman's fault, however. When he had not come by 1 pm, I called the service and was told that appointment had been cancelled because no one answered the courtesy phone call they give before they come to the house. We had both been home all day, so I questioned mr. kenju about being on the phone. He admitted that he had not answered a call-waiting signal, because he was on long distance with an old friend.

Guess who is in the doghouse tonight? He has asked what he could do to make it up to me, and I suggested that he provide dinner tonight. We'll see what that turns out to be. Mr. kenju is not known for his culinary skills.....LOL.

Oh, and the cable guy will be here tomorrow between 1pm and 5pm. I gave them MY phone number this time.
Edit: We had CPK frozen pizza. Just excellent, right? Nothing says I'm sorry like frozen pizza.....LOL

Hello from Michele's!

I think something in your house has a personal vendetta against remotes and is trying to send you a message. Or maybe it's Mr. Kenju himself. He's sending out little electrical impulses that are destroying remote after remote...

Hang in there. I'll try to remember to check back in this weekend and see how this saga ends.

Our remote has a mind of it's own. Once we figure out what it wants to watch, we usually just adjust, and watch it, too. It fast forwards for no reason at all, and when we push pause it has to think it over for a few seconds before it stops. The remote is sometimes as entertaining as the TV.

I'd like to know what Mr. Kenju fixed for supper!

Oh, the cursed perversity of inanimate objects!

I feel for ya. For the last 10 years I have been on a campaign to have one remote control instead of three or four. I even bought this real fancy one and had a guy come out and program it. It worked for a while, but when we changed our DVD player it had to be re-programmed. Then, some family members (I won't say who) started doing the push button polka on it, so now we're back to three.

Let us know how dinner went.

Yes, remotes tend to have a life of their own. And you have to remember how the dratted things work! I guess it's to keep you on your toes?

HAD to come here to learn what the "push button polka" was all about after seeing your comment on Badabing's blog.

That remote sure has a lot of buttons and features. I would be lost.
*sits on the couch with Mr. Kenju passing the popcorn and watching you.
Techno gadgetry is beyond me.
I would make you a better meal for fixing it though.
Grilled Salmon, wild rice, fresh mixed steamed veggies (yellow squash, zucchini, carrots, and green beans), and some fresh baked bread.
Frozen pizza eh? His culinary skills exceed that of the average man.
