Aaaaaaaah, SPRING!

If you don't live in Piedmont North Carolina today, I feel sorry for you. It is 83*, sunny, with low humidity, a very blue sky and high, fluffy clouds. I took this photo about 30 minutes ago, when I drove into my driveway from work. The grape hyacinths have eluded the deer this year, so far. Last year, I had about 30 stems in bloom at one time and the next morning - they were gone. Only the bare stems remained. A gardener friend told me that if they are eaten all the way down to the ground; rabbits did it. If only the blossoms are gone, it was deer.

This weekend, I am going to try and get some more photos for you. Our Bradford pear trees are in bloom, forsythia and daffodils are lush all over town and the red bud trees are blossoming more everyday. I hope you are experiencing some form of spring at your home, even if it is only the slush of melting snow. Happy weekend!

No signs of spring here, it's autumn! We do have some beautiful autumn crocuses though. Michele sent me.

What are those bluebonnets doing outside of Texas?

I didn't see those on my drive out of North Carolina...

I don't think my comment posted so I'll try again...

Your pic is of Texas Bluebonnets... but they don't bloom in N.C. I didn't see them when we were there...

Hold on Judy, let me check and see if I live in Piedmont, NC.....no it is 46 and there is dirty white stuff here and there. I would guess I live in someplace like a cave or somewhere on earth that is covered by ice caps......Idaho, Ohio, Iowa, Omaha....maybe one of those places.

Those flowers are gorgeous Judy....and just what I needed. We are hardly having the lovely day you are right now. Rainy and a chilly 47 here, but I still feel Spring is trying to settle in. I've been looking for any signs of buds or blossoms wherever I can find them...I just love when they pop up. Thanks for the spring cheer....

ah, Judy! Now I remember from last year that you get Spring about one month earlier than Michigan (and presumably Illinois)- I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all these signs will still be in evidence when I return the end of this month. I love Bradford Pears- so upright and graceful.

The deer used to drive my mother wild up in the north woods as they ate ALL her rose buds the day before they would bloom; in fact they ate the tops off just about every flower.

It's like that over here on the Left Coast too. Nice photos... they look good enough to eat, one can hardly blame deer.

Thanks for your comments on my blog,

Mike

winter is suppose to return to us next week--I'm sure you've been down to Wilmington during the Azelea Festival--the city and especially Greenfield Lake and Arlie Gardens are wonderful.

Hi Judy..It looks like I skipped you over at Michele's, but I didn't.
I cannot believe the weather you are having...It sounds glorious! Could it get horribly cold again with snow and everything? I would think it could...but I hope not for your sake and the sake of those BEAUTIFUL Flowers!

My grape hyacinths have just come out too! I still have a few daffodils and the black mondo grass is perking up among them. I 'll get a picture tomorrow too.

We have the same temperatures, the other side of the mountains. Love love this time of year.

Well, the snow is finally gone and the window is finally open. But that may not last, as it's going in the forties this weekend. And we don't have pretty flowers like yours. But at least that horrible icy snow is gone. For now. Winter sucks.

Hi Judy ~~ The hyacinths are lovely and I am glad you are having such nice weather. Those driftwood horses
are amazing. Peter and I enjoyed a few days together and had a great time. I hope he is safely home by now. And that he gets on OK with his eye op on Tuesday. Glad you enjoyed Bill Gates - he is a very clever man!! Take care Judy, Love, Merle.

The only place better than Piedmont NC is COASTAL NC! It's been so beautiful here this week, and seems to be continuing through the weekend.

We are still waiting for the thaw here.
Great picture! Those are pretty flowers. I hope the deer don't get them.

I went to the library yesterday and got some books to identify flowers in the pictures I've taken. We still have daffodils and now the forsythia is blooming as well as some of the pears. Ours is usually a later blooming one but the buds are out. I have something coming up in one of the flower beds. We planted three Easter lilies last year and I thought they died. This year there are at least eight plants coming up in that same general area. I didn't think they would spread that fast.
