Got a New Coat, Cape or Jacket?

If so, and it has fake fur trim, you might want to check out where it came from. According to an article from the AP in our paper, the Humane Society has discovered that some fur-trimmed jackets are not fake fur at all - but canine fur!

The coats in question were purchased from reputable stores, such as Nordstrom, and had designer labels: Andrew Marc and Tommy Hilfiger, for example.

"It's an industrywide deception," said Kristin Leppert, the head of the Humane Society's anti-fur campaign.
I'm not much for fur; fake or otherwise, but if I bought an article of clothing and found out it was dog fur - well - suffice it to say I'd be furious (no pun intended).

If you wait long enough Judy, everything old is new again... real fake fur, what next?

Dog-gone right! I'd be furious too! (Pun, obviously, intended.)

BTW, I like the larger print much better!

Ew. For someone who, in good faith, buys the so-called fake fur product, it's a pretty big violation of trust.

I liken it to fessing up after the fact that the dish you just served to the orthodox Jewish family was, in fact, laced with bacon. Morally, it's just wrong.

Trust, it seems, is a dying concept in our modern world. Thank goodness my basic gray woll trench coat and Columbia parka leave no room for misinterpretation. Fur? Bah!

BTW, I loved your caption from last week so much that I topped the list. Here's today's entry:

Thank you, Judy, for showing us a different perspective!

That is so wrong on so many levels.
This is the second horrible animal abuse story for me this week. If not for the internet we would not know about all the atrocities that are committed without our knowledge. I am going to mail you the dolphin one. We all need to sign that petition.
Have a wonderful day!

I've seen you all over the place today. I was at Anna's where you mentioned the doc's blog. What a powerful post. Then I went to Carmi's and saw your recognition there. Wow. You're great!

Me too! It's about an ethical choice people make and not just the product per se.

Mind you it's not often you wnat something to turn out to be fake!

IF this is recycled from dead animals it may be an interesting use of fur.

IF it is not labled as such it is a terrible deception.

MAYBE people who spend that much money on designer duds need to be deceived anyway.

I heard on the news these coats with dog fur were made in China.

I can't talk about it, or I get too angry.

Thanks for spreading the word!
